Elizabeth Dole Foundation Awards Grant to Northern Virginia’s Quality of Life Foundation

Washington, D.C.  – Northern Virginia nonprofit, Quality of Life Foundation, was awarded a grant from the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Fund today, in support of its efforts to impact the lives of military and veteran caregivers through individualized intervention. Quality of Life Foundation (QoLF) is among thirteen organizations nationwide receiving funding for innovative and evidence-based programs that address the long-term needs of military caregivers, the spouses, parents, and loved ones caring for wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans at home.

“Through the Hidden Heroes Fund, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation continues to build a strong, nationwide network of support for America’s military caregivers,” announced Senator Elizabeth Dole, president of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “This year’s recipients are some of the most respected organizations working on behalf of the veterans’ community and caregivers, and together, they will help ensure our nation supports our hidden heroes for years to come.”

Through the Wounded Veteran Family Care Program, the Quality of Life Foundation provides tailored traditional and non-traditional support to military caregivers. This high-touch intervention helps the family access the services and resources that specifically meet the needs that will improve their quality of life, as they define quality; be it rent or moving assistance, caregiver dental, a pottery kit or extra-curricular activity for a child. Every family’s needs are unique to their set of circumstances. QoLF meets the family where they are, and works with them to achieve an improved quality of life for the entire caregiving family.

“The Wounded Veteran Family Care Program is excited to partner with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation in our collective efforts to have positive impacts on military caregiver families throughout the United States,” said Elizabeth Chisolm, Executive Director of QoLF. “Meeting families where they are, and helping to support their unique needs, makes a dramatic difference in their quality of life. We are honored to support our caregiver families in this way and appreciative to the Foundation for their continued partnership and support.”
