Legacy Corps provides volunteer powered support to military family caregivers.
Volunteers, themselves veterans or members of military families, are highly vetted, trained and commit to one year of service as AmeriCorps Members, and generally continue service for multiple years. Volunteers are matched with families to provide weekly in-home companionship respite, facilitate evidence-based Powerful Tools for Caregivers workshops, and facilitate peer-to-peer networking and educational opportunities for caregivers and their loved ones. Volunteers and families share their commitment to service through the military. Legacy Corps is a national service program administered by the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health, providing support to military family caregivers. Idaho’s Legacy Corps program is housed at Jannus, a non-profit dedicated to helping people at every stage of their lives to be healthy, happy and economically stable.
