This Privacy Policy of Caring for Military Families: The Elizabeth Dole Foundation (“Foundation”) describes how we collect and use information about any person who, or entity that accesses, views, and/or uses (“access”) the Foundation’s web sites including without limitation those available at or through https://www.elizabethdolefoundation.org/, https://elizabethdolefoundation.comhttps://hiddenheroes.org/, https://www.dolemilitaryfamilies.org/, and https://www.dolemilitaryfamilies.com, along with any content, information, materials, features, services, or anything else available at or through or used in connection with the Foundation’s web sites (collectively, “Web Sites”).

The Foundation reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time and in the Foundation’s sole discretion. Any amended Privacy Policy will be effective upon posting by the Foundation. If you do not agree with the terms of the Privacy Policy as presently set forth, or as subsequently posted in amended form, please discontinue your access to the Web Sites immediately.

The Foundation may collect, at its sole discretion, information from you when you access our Web Sites including but not limited to when you: visit any of our Web Sites; access Interactive Features; register or otherwise “join our community”; register for any program, event, or initiative; or make an online pledge or donation.

The Foundation may collect, at its sole discretion, both personal and non-personal information that you supply when you access our Web Sites including but not limited to information such as: various contact information such as your name, mailing address, email address, and telephone number; various demographic information; various financial information such as your credit card or electronic transfer information; your internet protocol (IP) address and other browsing information.

The information we collect may be: maintained in our databases and used for example for record keeping, reporting, or analysis; used to communicate with you; used to conduct and/or report a transaction such as a donation or registration; used to improve our Web Sites and/or our work; used to tailor your web browsing experience on the Web Sites specifically to you; shared with others, including third parties with whom we work and third parties who may send you advertising unrelated to the Foundation, and/or shared with others as required by law such as in connection with the Foundation’s tax filings and/or reports of fundraising activities such as to various states; used to identify you in the event the Foundation believes that its Web Site Terms of Use are being violated and/or shared with law enforcement or courts as we are required or deem necessary.

The Foundation uses various technology and procedures to secure the information that we collect from and about you and your access to the Web Sites.

You may opt-out of certain uses of your personal information as follows: (1) you may “unsubscribe” from our mailing list using a link provided in email that we send you from time to time; (2) you may “unregister” from our Web Sites by sending us an electronic message using the form available at https://www.elizabethdolefoundation.org/contact-us/. As for the latter, within a reasonable amount of time once you are “unregistered,” the Foundation will discontinue sharing your information with third parties who might otherwise send you advertising.

With respect to donations made over the internet, we use a third party donation processor for handling credit card and electronic check payments. The security of those transactions is subject to the terms of the processor; those third party terms are linked on the web pages where you may provide information to make donations.

With respect to donations made by check, for example sent by mail, we have put in place internal procedures to protect the security of the financial information associated with checks.

We may use “cookies” or other client-side web storage options that collect information for example about you or your web browsing. We also may employ “tracking” technologies. Typically, cookies may be blocked and tracking may be disabled using your web browser or preference settings on your electronic device; if you choose to do so, your access to the Web Sites may be impacted. We also may monitor access to the Foundation’s Web Sites for various purposes and using various techniques, some of which may be implemented using third party services.
