Caregivers and their families are able to come out and participate in gardening, nature photography, introspective journaling, meditation, animal handling therapy, holistic biofeedback, and eco-therapy activities.
Trained staff offer support and individuals can choose to join other volunteers in group activities or work independently at their own pace.
Military families are also encouraged to participate in our Come Find Your CENTER (Caring, Eco-therapy, Nature, Tranquility, Environment, Raptors) program. This allows the healing power of nature to help decrease anxiety, depression, anger, stress, and suicidal thoughts. Emotional, physical, mental, behavioral, and psycho-social health is improved. Working outside in the sunshine, surrounded by nature and wildlife, allows the troubled spirit to find peace and serenity again. CENTER participants are able to relax, renew, and regain strength to continue on as effective caregivers. Possumwood Acres is located near Camp Lejeune in Onslow County, NC.
