Neil Sumilas joins the Foundation as Vice President of Operations 

Washington, DC (September 8, 2020) – The Elizabeth Dole Foundation announced Neil Sumilas as Vice President of Operations. Sumilas joins the Foundation as it continues to rapidly expand its reach and impact in creating an America where military caregivers are empowered, supported, and honored.

“Neil has an exceptional track record of guiding non-profits to meet their mission efficiently and effectively,” said Steve Schwab, CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “His talents will enable the Foundation to further develop programs and resources for our nation’s hidden heroes caring for those who serve.”

Sumilas is an experienced non-profit professional having served as Vice President for Planning and Management at the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) prior to joining the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. He has also served as a consultant focusing primarily on programmatic and management issues unique to non-profits.

Sumilas also served as Managing Director of the German Marshall Fund after spending more than a decade working on their leadership development programs focused on young professionals.

Sumilas currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Atlas Corps, an international network of social sector leaders and organizations based in Washington, DC, and is a member of the Finance & Audit Committee for the United Philanthropy Forum. He holds both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Georgetown University, and resides in Bethesda, Md., with his family.
