Elizabeth Dole Foundation Awards Grant to Houston’s Worklife Institute
Washington, D.C. – Houston based nonprofit, Worklife Institute, was awarded a grant from the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Fund today, in support of its efforts to impact the lives of military and veteran caregivers through empowerment and personal development. Worklife Institute is among thirteen organizations nationwide receiving funding for innovative and evidence-based programs that address the long-term needs of military caregivers, the spouses, parents, and loved ones caring for wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans at home.
“Through the Hidden Heroes Fund, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation continues to build a strong, nationwide network of support for America’s military caregivers,” announced Senator Elizabeth Dole, president of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “This year’s recipients are some of the most respected organizations working on behalf of the veterans’ community and caregivers, and together, they will help ensure our nation supports our hidden heroes for years to come.”
The Veterans and Families Worklife Transition Program promotes a successful transition of veterans and their families into new career tracks and family and community life following military service. This includes meaningful, upwardly sustainable employment, with on-going personal development and family support services. The Hidden Heroes Fund will support the Military Caregivers’ Empowerment and Personal Development Project, which focuses on the empowerment and well-being of military caregivers in their professional career development while also enhancing their sense of success in their family and caregiving commitments.
“Worklife Institute looks forward to continuing our work with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Campaign, teaming with other providers and military caregivers to keep deepening the Campaign’s impact in the Gulf Coast region,” said Dr. Diana Dale, Founder of Worklife Institute.
