Elizabeth Dole Foundation Awards Grant to Project New Hope of Worcester
Washington, D.C. – Worcester nonprofit, Project New Hope Inc., was awarded a grant from the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Fund today in support of its efforts to impact the lives of military and veteran caregivers through personal health and wellness retreats. Project New Hope (PNH) is among thirteen organizations nationwide receiving funding for innovative and evidence-based programs that address the long-term needs of military caregivers, the spouses, parents, and loved ones caring for wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans at home.
“Through the Hidden Heroes Fund, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation continues to build a strong, nationwide network of support for America’s military caregivers,” announced Senator Elizabeth Dole, president of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “This year’s recipients are some of the most respected organizations working on behalf of the veterans’ community and caregivers, and together, they will help ensure our nation supports our hidden heroes for years to come.”
PNH helps active duty service members and veterans and their families and caregivers understand, cope with, and overcome the stresses of service, especially for those with invisible wounds.
Through the support of the Hidden Heroes Fund, PNH will provide a five day retreat Ocean Park, Maine for caregivers and their families. The retreat will include a national expert with lived experience and strong professional credentials to provide concrete effective strategies to address issues identified by military caregivers. A slate of health and wellness practitioners provide consultation, treatments and classes to retreat participants to develop or strengthen personal wellness habits. In addition to these educational and health and wellness activities, caregivers are provided the opportunity to participate in recreational activities and spend quality time with their families in a beautiful camp on the coast of Maine.

Together, we are able to support military families by providing them with tools and strategies to improve the overall health and wellness of the entire family.”
